Pomelli Pricing in 2026: What Google's Free AI Tool Really Costs
Pomelli is free. Google Labs states that you "can currently use Pomelli at no charge," with no paid tier, no subscription and no credit card. As of 28 July 2026 there is no Pomelli pricing page, because there are no prices. What matters is what free buys you.
How much does Pomelli cost?
Nothing, as of 28 July 2026.
Google Labs' own help documentation is unambiguous: you can currently use Pomelli at no charge. There is no free trial that converts, no seat cost, no per-image fee and no credit pack to buy. Google has not published a post-beta price, a launch date for one, or a pricing page to watch.
Pay attention to currently. Pomelli is a Google Labs experiment rather than a shipped Google product. Labs is where Google tests ideas in public, and the same page that tells you it is free also notes that usage caps may change.
What are Pomelli's usage limits?
Google's help centre says users can create "several hundred image and video generations." That is the only published cap.
That number is stated loosely rather than as a hard quota, and third-party write-ups disagree about it; some claim there are no limits at all. Google's own documentation says several hundred, and it is the only source worth planning against.
For most small businesses running a few campaigns a month, several hundred generations is not a constraint. If you are producing creative for a 200-SKU catalogue, you will find the ceiling in your first week.
What do you actually get for free?
Pomelli's flow has three steps, and the first one is the interesting part.
Business DNA. You give Pomelli your website and it analyses it into a brand profile: your fonts, colours, values and images, plus a Catalog of your products. Google's documentation says the analysis takes roughly eight minutes. You can also build it from uploaded files instead, capped at 20 files per upload and 25 MB per file.
Campaign ideas. Pomelli suggests campaigns based on that profile rather than making you write a prompt from scratch.
Assets. It generates social posts, web banners and ad creative you can edit and download for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn.
You need a Google account and a website. Pomelli launched in four countries and expanded to over 170 in March 2026, so availability is no longer the blocker it was at launch.
The Catalog is the part worth knowing about if you sell physical goods. Pomelli stores your products there, and you can add them by URL or build an entry from scratch, then generate campaigns and photoshoots against those entries rather than describing the product in a prompt each time. Gmail and Google Workspace accounts both work, and the tool runs on desktop and mobile.
Where does free actually cost you?
Four things to weigh.
It can be switched off. Google Labs experiments get discontinued. That is what Labs is for. If Pomelli becomes the engine behind your weekly campaign output and Google retires it, you rebuild your workflow with no notice and no contractual recourse. There is no SLA on an experiment.
Pricing is unannounced, not absent. "Free during beta" is a decision Google has not made yet, not a commitment. Budgeting on the assumption that it stays free is budgeting on a coin flip.
It works from your website, not your products. Business DNA is built by reading your site. That is genuinely clever for tone, colour and layout. It is a different job from rendering your actual bottle, label and cap correctly across 40 SKUs. Pomelli is a marketing-campaign tool that generates imagery; it is not a product-photography engine.
Label fidelity is where general tools drift. If your product has text on it (a supplement facts panel, an ingredient list, a wordmark), check small-size legibility before you commit. This is the failure mode consumer brands care about most and the one that is easiest to miss in a demo, because it looks fine until you zoom in.
How does Pomelli compare to paid product photography tools?
Every price below was checked on the vendor's own pricing page on 28 July 2026. Note that Claid, Photoroom and Canva all display annual-billing prices by default, so the monthly figure is higher.

The spread is narrower than people expect. Claid Essentials at $9 a month and Photoroom Pro at $7.50 a month are not meaningful line items against a shoot budget. If Pomelli's free tier is the deciding factor in your tool choice, the amount at stake is roughly one lunch per month. Output quality should decide it instead.

Pikes sits in a different category from Pomelli by design. Where Pomelli reads your website to infer a brand, Pikes works from a product library of your real SKUs and a persistent brand context, so packaging detail and colour stay consistent across many outputs. It is free to start with no credit card, and the comparison worth running is output on your own hardest SKU.
Who should use Pomelli, and who should not?
Use Pomelli if you are a small business with a decent website and no design resource, you need social creative and banners rather than catalogue photography, and you can absorb the tool disappearing. At $0 with a Google-quality model behind it, the trial cost is your time.
Look elsewhere if you sell physical products where the packaging has to be rendered accurately, you need consistent output across a large SKU count, or you need the tool to still exist in eighteen months. Pomelli was built for a different job.
If you are weighing the wider field, our Pomelli AI review covers output quality in detail, and the best Pomelli alternatives guide lines up the realistic replacements. For a head-to-head on a specific competitor, see Pomelli vs Photoroom.
The fastest way to settle this is a test. Take your single hardest SKU, the one with the smallest text on the label, run it through Pomelli's free tier and through Pikes, then compare the labels at 100%. That answers the question quicker than any pricing table.
Frequently asked questions
Is Pomelli free? Yes. As of 28 July 2026, Google Labs states you can currently use Pomelli at no charge. There is no paid tier and no published pricing.
Will Pomelli stay free? Google has not said. It is a Labs experiment, and the help documentation notes that usage caps may change. Treat continued free access as likely in the short term and uncertain beyond that.
How many images can I generate with Pomelli? Google's help centre says several hundred image and video generations. Third-party sources claim otherwise; Google's own documentation is the reliable source.
Do I need a website to use Pomelli? Yes for the main flow. Business DNA is built by analysing your website, and the analysis takes about eight minutes. You can build a profile from uploaded files instead, up to 20 files at 25 MB each.
Which countries can use Pomelli? It launched in four countries and expanded to more than 170 in March 2026. You need a Google account and to be in a supported territory.
Is Pomelli good for product photography? It generates marketing creative from your brand profile, which is a different job. For accurate rendering of real packaging across a catalogue, tools built around a product library will hold detail better. Compare them on your own label text before deciding.
